[Maybe it was stupid to go "fuck it" and run away from his mother's house last month, but frankly Kunikaki cannot be bothered to think it was stupid. He is seventeen and absolutely fucking tired of his mother's bullshit and his sister's somehow worse bullshit. (He gets it, he understands that his mother never recovered from her sister's death, but he doesn't have to deal with it anymore.) So yeah, he ran away.

And now he's pretty sure some freak is following him as he winds his way through the city, trying to escape the fucker, but whatever. He'll make do.]

[He gets the kit and follows after Heizou to make sure he gets a chance to treat those wounds.

And then he just sort of stops to stare at Heizou's back, horrified by all the scars, fresh and old.]

[He still hasn't removed his choker so at least the marks on his neck are still partially hidden. But when Wanderer comes in after him, Heizou just turns with a shrug. Very casually moving to take the first aid kit from him.]

I told you. It's really not a big deal.

[Kuni smacks Heizou's hand away and starts to get the kit open so he can start treating the wounds.]

Like hell it's not! It looks like you were chained up.

Ow!

[He yelps at that smack, relinquishing the first aid completely.]

Come on, there's really no need to hit me, is there??

[Kuni gives Heizou a look because dude, that yelp. What are you, a dog?]

There is if you're going to try and treat this yourself. You can't even reach half of these injuries!

[He huffs slightly, annoyed but relenting.]

They're not as bad as they look. And I heal quickly.

Not quickly enough, if you have scars. What, do you have to go fight in a yakuza-run fighting ring once a month or something?

[A soft snort, amused.]

You really are convinced I have some connection to the yakuza, huh? I assure you I don't.

Then explain this.

[He pointedly dabs at an injury with an alcohol wipe.]

And the apartment.

[He inhales sharply at the sting, but keeps his eyes on what Wanderer is doing.]

The landlord here is a former client. They rented this place to me in exchange for helping them. That's all.

And these injuries? You were chained up. These are claw marks.

[He just hums thoughtfully, an almost sing-song tone to it.]

Surely you can't be that curious about me. It's really nothing to concern yourself with.

I just stayed in your apartment for a few days and you come back looking like you were some asshole's chewtoy. I'm allowed to be curious and want answers.

Curious, yes, but I'm not your responsibility. You have yourself to look after, you know.

[Kuni shuts up after that point, but he is a very thorough and careful medic as he tends to Heizou's wounds.

Eventually:]

Will you take the choker off?

[book2thehead]

[Heizou goes quiet as well - uncharacteristically so, perhaps. Though when that request is made he stiffens slightly.]

...I'd rather keep it on, thank you.

Whatever.

[He finishes cleaning and bandaging Heizou's injuries.]

There. These shouldn't scar as bad, at least.

[book2thehead]

[He looks down at the bandages on his arms, quiet for a moment longer. And then finally-]

...Thank you.

I wasn't going to let the guy who let me stay at his place bleed out or whatever.

["You're welcome."

He starts to clean up.]

Do you want me out now, or do you mind if I stay one more night? I'll cook.

[Heizou manages a small smile as he goes to put his shirt back on.]

You can stay a little longer, since you did help me and all.

Alright.

[And he leaves the bathroom to start making dinner. It will be healthier but full of meat. Heizou probably needs iron.]

[Heizou takes a little bit longer, cleaning the cuts under his choker before going about getting fully changed, and finding another tie for his hair. He washes his face quickly before heading out to the kitchen, the smell of meat being cooked doing a fine job of enticing him.

That reminds him of how hungry he is.]

Whoa, that smells really good! I didn't think you were a cook.

Mhm. If I wanted to eat anything decent, I had to cook it myself.

[His mother and sister can't cook to save their lives, after all.]

You need an air fryer.

[book2thehead]

[Heizou sits himself down and regards Wanderer with a curious look. He has so many questions, but he keeps them to himself. For now.]

An air fryer? What for?
